Practical support for the leadership teams behind big ambitions.

The questions we work on usually begin with the business: Where are you going? What is making it harder to get there? What will leaders, teams, and the organization need to do differently?

From there, the work may involve strategic clarity, leadership and team development, organization design, or some combination. We do not force an organizational problem into a predetermined service. We work on what the business actually requires.

Get clear and aligned

Make the choices that organize the rest of the work. Strategy is not only about setting direction. It is about making choices clear enough that people can act differently because of them. We work with leadership teams to clarify direction, the strategic choices that follow from it, and the agreements needed to carry them forward.

This may be useful when the leadership team describes the strategy differently depending on who is speaking, demands keep multiplying, important decisions are repeatedly reopened, or a new CEO or leadership team needs to establish direction together.

Our work can include leadership-team facilitation, strategic clarity and direction-setting sessions, leadership alignment, decision-making and follow-through, and cross-functional alignment.

What we aim to make possible: a smaller number of clearer choices, decisions that hold, and a leadership team able to explain the strategy in the same language and make day-to-day tradeoffs from it.

Build the leadership your strategy requires

Develop people for the work they have to lead. The leadership skills a company needs at one stage are not necessarily the ones it needs at the next. Growth asks managers to stop solving everything themselves. Transformation asks leaders to create clarity before all the answers are known. We build leadership and team capability around those demands.

This may be useful when the company is asking more of leaders than their previous roles prepared them for, a capable leadership team is not functioning as a strong team, conflict is being avoided, or a significant change requires different leadership behaviors, not just new information.

Our work can include leadership development, leadership-team and team effectiveness, trust and productive conflict, decision-making and influence across boundaries, and leading through change.

What we aim to make possible: leaders who make sound decisions, address difficult issues earlier, work more effectively across boundaries, and create clarity for the people around them.

Shape the organization for what is next

Make it easier for the work to move. As companies grow, the informal mechanisms that once made them fast often stop scaling. We help leaders intentionally redesign the way work, authority, and responsibility move through the organization.

This may be useful when the company has outgrown the informal ways of working that got it here, people are unclear about who decides what, work repeatedly stalls between functions, or a restructure is being considered but the underlying problem is not yet clear.

Our work can include organization design, clear roles and decision-making, operating models, cross-functional coordination, and ways of working and change adoption.

What we aim to make possible: clearer responsibility, decisions made at the right level, fewer unnecessary handoffs, and roles and structures that make sense for the work the company is doing now.

AI and organizational change

Technology creates value when the work changes around it. We help leadership teams think about AI as a business and organizational question, not simply a technology purchase: clarifying the use case, identifying where value could come from, examining workflows and roles, and designing for adoption. Our role is not to sell a platform. It is to help leaders make a sound business choice and prepare the organization to use the technology well.

What working with Straiven looks like

We are built for work that benefits from senior attention, thoughtful diagnosis, and direct engagement with the people responsible for the business. Some engagements are concentrated, such as a leadership-team working session around a consequential decision. Others continue over time. In either case, we define the work around the situation rather than fitting the situation into a package.

Need a more structured strategy or execution process? Start a conversation and we will talk through what would fit.
